BBQ
The picture on the right is one of my favourite photos of dad, and one of the most used. It encapsulates so many of the good things about him - most particularly his laugh and of him barbecuing.
My dad was a hell of a bbq-er. It was easily one of my favourite parts of summer, when we brought out the barbecue and dad would cook something up most nights. My mouth still waters with the taste of his homemade burgers, with tomato, pickles and too much ketchup.
But his best recipe, one that was actually ex-Oiler Dave Semenko's, was his ribs. There's really no way of describing how good they were. You just had to taste them.
Every Father's Day, ribs were eaten, a tradition that I hope will continue and share when I have kids. For me, cooking them is a way to reconnect with something he loved to do.

Our Family
This photo was taken in the summer of 2003, on a family road trip down to Denver to visit my uncle. It was during a hike. I'll discuss the trip itself another time.
From left to right, there's myself (Gary), my brother Graeme, my mother Josy and my dad.
We've been living at a fairly nice house on the south side of Edmonton since I was about one.
